Welcome!

Most of us experience times when we need help with problems and issues that cause us emotional distress. When you are having a problem or dilemma that is making you feel out of sorts and overwhelmed, you may benefit from the assistance of an experienced, trained professional.

I am a professional counselor, licensed by the state of Texas to offer therapy that you may need during stressful times. At times in our lives depression or anxiety can become so pervasive that life may appear hopeless but with therapy the symptoms can be treated. When a person suffers from depression, it can affect every part of his or her life, including one's physical body, one's behavior, thought processes, mood and ability to relate to others, and general lifestyle.

People who are diagnosed with clinical depression have a combination of symptoms from the following list:

  • Feelings of hopelessness, even when there is reason to be hopeful
  • Fatigue or low energy
  • Much less interest or pleasure in most regular activities
  • low self esteem
  • feeling worthless
  • excessive or inappropriate guilt
  • indecisiveness
  • lessened ability to think or concentrate
  • change in appetite
  • change in sleeping patterns
  • recurrent thoughts of death
  • suicidal thoughts

Depression may be your life at this time BUT it does not have to be your way of life. Depression affects millions of people in this country. It is always troubling and for some people it can be disabling. Depression is more than just sadness or "the blues." It can have an impact on nearly every aspect of a person's life. People who suffer from depression may experience despair and worthlessness and this can have an enormous impact on both personal and professional relationships.

Because you have taken the first step by realizing that you have a problem and need help and because you will be putting a great deal of time, money and energy into therapy, you should choose a therapist carefully. I strongly believe you should feel comfortable with the therapist you choose and hopefully about therapy. When you feel this way therapy is more likely to be very helpful to you. I think of my approach to helping people with their problems as an educational one. Anyone can learn to recognize negative choices and how to make more effective choices as they learn to deal with the people they need in their lives.

I strongly believe that I allow my clients "voices to be heard."
